This match was much better paced than the previous one. Steve missed a land drop on turn 3 and I was scared he was going to repeat last match, but he played a land on turn 4 and with his three mana cast Radha, Heart of Keld. Thanks to Radha’s top deck ability I don’t think he missed a single land drop after that.
Michael and I were both playing vehicle decks and built up good defensive boards. I used my commander, Shorikai, Genesis Engine for it’s card draw and to make pilot tokens to operate all my vehicles. We left Brad’s Grand Master of Flowers alone for too long and it became a 7/7 flying indestructible dragon. He kept using the “+1: Target creature without first strike, double strike, or vigilance can’t attack or block until your next turn” on Steve’s Raiyuu, Storm’s Edge because it was the only creature with first strike on the board. Once Brad got that 7th loyalty counter on Grand Master he stopped targeting Raiyuu.
With mana at his disposal Steve was able to get some additional warriors on the battlefield. He didn’t appear scary yet, in addition to Radha and Raiyuu he had Figure of Destiny and his commander, Archaeon the Everchosen plus a couple of warrior tokens… nothing that we couldn’t put up a strong defense against.
On Steve’s final turn he cast Druids’ Repository, none of us realized the impact that card was about to have. Steve moved on to combat and attacked Brad with all of his creatures, adding 8 charge counters to Druid’s Repository and creating 8 more attacking warrior tokens. Brad declared his blockers and in response Steve cast Your Temple Is Under Attack giving all of his creatures indestructible. After damage was dealt but before combat resolved, Steve pulled 5 charge counters off of Repository and activated his commanders WUBRG ability, untapping all his creatures (still with indestructible) and adding another combat phase to his turn. He did this again, and again, and again, until he wiped out all of us.
