Planeswalkers vs Toxic vs Experience vs -1/-1 Counters, all four of us were built with proliferation in mind… Toxic was going to win if we couldn’t stop it fast enough, and we did not.
I made many mistakes this game. I didn’t cast Swords to Plowshares Michaels commander when I should have. I didn’t use the ultimate from Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God to remove Michael from the game. I shouldn’t have proliferated Steve and Brad’s poison counters. I shouldn’t have kept attacking Michael because he had that stupid Norn’s Decree enchantment.
I died to poison.
On Steve’s last turn, he and Brad both had 9 poison counters, Michael had 16 life and Brad had 17. Steve only had enough attackers to do 27 damage. If he attacks Michael he’s going to die from poison. Steve has to make the decision, either kill Michael and die and give Brad the win; or kill Brad and lose to Michael. Steve decided to kill Brad and give Michael the win because he wanted to take someone out before the game was over.
If I played smarter and stopped Michael when I could have, I think Steve probably would have won with his big ass indestructible gods.
